Local Little Feat fans mourn Paul Barrere

Little Feat fans are mourning Paul Barrere. The singer, songwriter and musician was being treated for liver cancer in Los Angeles when he died at the age of 71 on Saturday.

Barrere often performed a local benefits.

He performed at the Topa Mountain Winery in Ojai for Safety Harbor Kids last year, and he was a regular at fundraisers for The Rhythmic Arts Project in Santa Barbara.

TRAP founder Eddie Tuduri had hoped he would play the upcoming TRAP benefit at the Lobero.

Barrere wrote Time Loves a Hero, Old Folks Boogie, Skin it Back and other Llittle Feat favorites.

His songs helped the band attract new fans after singer and songwriter Lowell George died in 1979.

The remaining band members just finished a fiftieth anniversary tour.
