VENTURA, Calif. - The Ventura County's 15th Annual Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service honored the life of CAL FIRE Engineer Cory Iverson on Friday.

Iverson was an engineer for the San Diego unit of the CAL FIRE department. He died while battling the Thomas Fire in 2017.

According to the Ventura County Fire Department, the Ventura County Fallen Firefighter Memorial started in 2004 to remember those lost in the line of duty from traumatic injury or job-related illness.

The memorial is located on the grounds of the County Government Center off of Victoria Avenue.
