Hazardous Material Unit responds to oil spill in Lompoc Valley
LOMPOC VALLEY, Calif. - The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to calls of a strong smell of rotten eggs and tar.
The smell was coming from Rucker Rd and Calle Lindero Rd in the Mission Hills area of the Lompoc Valley around 7:43 p.m.
When the Hazardous Material Unit (HMU) arrived. they found a total of three barrels of crude oil. Two barrels in containment area, and one outside of its containment but it was static.
Santa Barbara Fire said there was no additional threat and that they will remain on scene to help with the clean up.
