Covered California: Open enrollment deadline one week away
SANTA MARIA, Calif. – Covered California wants to get the word out throughout the central coast that there’s a big deadline coming up for open enrollment.
They held a rally on Thursday in Santa Maria to make sure people know they will get a big penalty if they don’t have insurance through their work or Covered California.
The law now requires everyone in the state to have health insurance.
Executives with Covered California said there’s new money to help make healthcare more affordable for a million Californians.
“The main hope is that it’s one week away from the deadline and what we want people to do is to go online to coveredca.com and see if they’re eligible and if they’re confused put their zip code and they can find local help and get affordable coverage,” said Peter Lee with Covered California.
The deadline for open enrollment is Jan. 31.
