SLO food bank gifted by “1% for Good” initiative

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The San Luis Obispo Food Bank received a sizable donation from the “1% for Good” initiative.

Lindsey Harn is a local real estate agent and ambassador  for "1% for Good."

“We're super grateful to have this opportunity to be able to give back and support our community. And we hope to continue to be able to do so at an even higher level in the future,” says Hart.

Working from a passion for supporting organizations in the local community that make a positive difference, Harn came to the SLO food bank Wednesday to present a donation check.

“What's really cool about this program is every time we sell a house, we actually donate 1% of our commission directly to this fund. And so it's held by a community foundation, and so it grows in perpetuity,” says Hart.

Food Bank staff say even small donations make a big difference.

“It sometimes feels overwhelming the amount of need that there is, the skyrocketing prices, things that are facing every single family throughout SLO County. But this shows that all of us leaning in a little bit can make a tremendous difference,” says Molly Kern, SLO Food Bank C.E.O.
