Camarillo police chief gets a promotion, station looking for new chief

The Camarillo Police Department announced the promotion of Police Chief Dave Murray and their search for a new Police Chief to take his place beginning October 20.

The announcement was made Friday afternoon in a press release.

Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub is promoting Commander Murray to Assistant Sheriff beginning October 20.

Camarillo City Manager Dave Norman will be in charge of selecting the new chief from a list of candidates provided by Ayub.

Murray has served as Camarillo’s Police Chief since January 2017.

The City of Camarillo will issue a news release when the next police chief is named.
