Arroyo Grande police investigate “safety incident” at high school, no danger to students
Arroyo Grande police say there was no danger to students after an incident at Arroyo Grande High School Friday.
The police department says school administrators had asked police to help with an “alleged school safety incident” at the high school.
Police responded and helped a School Resource Officer, as well as other school officials, with an investigation.
The Arroyo Grande Police Department told our newsroom it was investigating some sort of rumor, but wouldn’t specify what that rumor was.
As police were wrapping up the investigation, a fire alarm went off. Police said someone had over-cooked food which created smoke and set off the alarm system. They said it was coincidental that it happened while they were still on campus and no one was ever in danger.
Police tell us they wanted to release the information about what had happened because it did cause some worry on campus Friday.
The school district said they would also be notifying parents.
