Santa Barbara CHP helps student get wallet back

A local student has his wallet back after a Good Samaritan and Santa Barbara California Highway Patrol officers worked together to return it.

CHP officer Jonathan Gutierrez said a woman was walking along San Marcos Road in Goleta when she found the wallet. The woman, who wants to remain anonymous, walked into the CHP office and turned it in.

Officers contacted the owner and returned the wallet to him. All of his credit cards, ID cards and $103 were still there.

Officers say the owner of the wallet is a college student with very limited resources and they applaud the woman for doing the right thing.

“We have very honest people in the community and we are very grateful that people trusted us to get the wallet back to the community,” Gutierrez said.
