Self-serve Carpinteria flower bouquet bar set up for Valentine’s week

A Central Coast flower grower is setting up a flower bar where you can now make your own bouquet. It comes just in time for Valentine’s day.

Florabundance and FabulousFlorals.com in Carpinteria will have buckets of flowers out but owner Joost Bongaerts said they usually carry “800 varieties flowers on a typical day.”

He says this area is still a big flower growing region, even though some growers have changed their focus or sold their greenhouses in recent years. “Between Watsonville and Carlsbad it is still a big area of flower growers.”

Bongaerts says a staff member will help the customer with the choices, and some of the greens that can go into the bouquets.

The wholesaler has flowers from within California but also from around the world including Holland, South America, the Middle East and Japan.

Some of the flowers have a vase life of over two weeks because of their freshness.

The bouquet bar is at 1296 Cravens Lane and there’s customer parking by the wholesale warehouse.
