17-year-old caught with loaded handgun
A juvenile was arrested after Oxnard police caught him with a loaded handgun Wednesday.
According to the Oxnard Police Department, a caller reported two suspicious men attempting to burglarize a vehicle in the carports of the 200 block of West Vineyard Avenue just before 10:30 p.m. The responding officers contacted three males in the carport, including two juveniles (ages 16 and 17), and a 21-year-old.
During a pat-down search for weapons, officers located a loaded .25 calibur handgun in the front pocket of the 17-year-old male. The minor was arrested for possession of a loaded concealed firearm. He was then taken to the Oxnard Police Department, booked, and then lodged in Juvenile Hall, police said.
The two other males were released without charge after a field interview.
