Santa Barbara Airport hosts multi-agency active shooter training
First responders from fire and law enforcement agencies gathered on Thursday, October 11, for a joint active shooter training.
“The purpose of the exercise was to allow law enforcement, fire personnel, and emergency medical personnel an opportunity to practice and execute what they’ve learned in prior training in response to active shooter and mass murder incidents,” said Kevin Corbett, Public Information Officer for the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.
The scenario included an active shooter incident with a suspect-at-large and victims at the airport terminal. A Unified Command was set up and teams were created to search and find the suspect. A Rescue Task Force was created to remove victims and transport them to a Casualty Collection Point.
