3 injured in head-on collision on HWY 154 near Santa Barbara
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara County Fire, California Highway Patrol and AMR responded to reports of a vehicle collision on Highway 154 about one mile up from Foothill and Cathedral Oaks roads Sunday afternoon.
The call came in around 1:30 p.m.
County Fire said they had a Battalion Chief stationed in the nearby area who responded to the scene quickly. They reported that two vehicles crashed head-on, resulting in major damage to the front ends of both cars. CHP described the vehicles as a blue SUV and a red sedan.
Firefighters located three patients who required heavy extrication to remove from the vehicles.
One patient reportedly sustained serious injuries while two others had moderate injuries.
All three individuals were transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by ambulance.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
All roads in the area are open as of 2:16 p.m.
