Annual Isla Vista Halloween Pumpkin Patch features $1,000 grand prize for costume contest

ISLA VISTA, Calif.— The Isla Vista Recreation & Park District is kicking off Halloween with its 3rd annual Halloween Pumpkin Patch Monday and Tuesday at Anisq’Oyo’ Park.

This is in partnership with Lucidity and the Environment Makers.

Organizers say what sets this festival apart is its immersive theatrical components with costumed actors.

The two-day festivities follow an intricate storyline that makes event attendees central protagonists on a mission to save the “Pumpkin King,” who has sold his spirit to Louie D’Ville.

In this elaborate outdoor “escape room”, guests gather clues and symbolic tokens from a cast of characters that ultimately ends with them taking home a pumpkin souvenir.

The event also includes a silent disco in the Haay’All Amphitheater from 7-11 pm Monday evening.

Tuesday evening will feature a costume contest in partnership with UCSB Fashion club, with a $1,000 grand prize for adults and four youth tickets to the National Parks System.

The event is free for everyone to attend.
