Santa Barbara firefighters respond to vegetation fire
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Santa Barbara City Fire Department responded to a report of a vegetation fire on Friday afternoon.
At around 3:15 p.m., firefighters responded to a call on a structure fire at 1920 San Pascual Street in Santa Barbara.
Three engines, a truck and a battalion chief were dispatched to the fire.
When the first unit arrived, they observed smoke showing from the rear end of the structure.
Firefighters pulled a hose line to the back and found a 15 by 15 spot fire involving vegetation and a hedge.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in five minutes.
An engine company went to the train tracks located behind the building to investigate the origin of the fire. Firefighters found that the fire started in proximity to a homeless encampment but the actual cause is still under investigation.
There was property damage that was estimated to less than $1,000 due to fences being burnt during the fire.
No one was injured in this incident.
