Camarillo man convicted in 2015 stabbing death of teen
A Camarillo man could face over 50 years to life in prison for the death of a 16-year-old Camarillo boy.
Tyler Ostertag, 24, of Camarillo was found guilty of second-degree murder for the 2015 stabbing death of Daniel Morales.
Morales was outside of a fast food restaurant in Camarillo when Ostertag began fighting with one of Morales’ friends.
According to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, Ostertag lost that fight and retrieved a knife from his vehicle. Morales jumped in the way of his friend and was stabbed by Ostertag once in the heart. Morales died later that day.
Ostertag was arrested in Riverside only 11 hours after the stabbing. He was arrested and held on a $1 million bail.
On Thursday Ostertag was found guilty for Morales’ death. He will be sentenced on May 10 and could face a maximum sentence of 54 years to life in prison.
