UCSB delivers late to beat San Francisco
San Francisco came into The Thunderdome on Saturday night with only one loss on the season and on a five game winning streak. UCSB was up for the challenge.
JaQuori McLaughlin scored 18 points and delivered clutch baskets late in the game and UCSB held off San Francisco down the stretch for a 73-71 win on Saturday night.
Amadou Sow collected nine rebounds and led all scorers with 21 points for the Gauchos (10-3), who moved to 6-0 at home. Devearl Ramsey added 14 points and six assists.
Ramsey’s three pointer broke a 63-63 tie with less than two minutes to play. McLaughlin added another clutch three pointer moments later, along with a late layup and free throw to secure an impressive victory for UCSB.
Charles Minlend led the Dons (12-2) with 19 points.
The win gives the Gauchos a significant victory on their resume as conference play approaches. UCSB will host Bethesda on Wednesday in the team’s final non-conference game of the season.
