Professional surfer Mary Osborne is on a car raffle Surf Rodeo winning streak

A local pro surfer known for winning longboard surf contests has become known for winning raffles, too.

Mary Osborne recently won a 1972 Jeep Commando at the 2018 Surf Rodeo. Osborne said she buys raffle tickets every year to help the Boys and Girls Club of Ventura. This was her second raffle win.

In 2014, Osborne won a 1977 yellow and white VW bus that she used in some of her surf videos.

She said she will keep buying tickets and hopes her winning streak inspires others to do the same.

If she isn’t teaching surfing or running surf camps, or surfing in scenic places around the world, you may seeing her driving around town in her latest prize.

Early in her career Osborne won a surfing reality show on MTV. She is also the author or a surfing how-to book for girls and women entitled Sister Surfer; A woman’s guide to surfing with bliss and courage.
