Israeli band living Cinderella story at Coachella
An Israeli band that opened for Radiohead at its sold-out Santa Barbara bowl show earlier in the week took to the stage at Coachella Friday morning.
It’s a bit of a Cinderella story for Dudu Tassa and the Kuwaitis. Radiohead called the band in May and asked them to join their tour.
The Jewish lead singer’s grandfather was very well-known in Iraq where toppled dictator Saddam Hussein banned The Kuwaitis’ songs.
The band says touring with Radiohead has been a dream come true.
“The Santa Barbara venue was amazing–the place is so nice really nice. Here, the Coachella is wow! It’s amazing. The festival is so huge and we are happy to be here,” said The Kuwaitis manager Or Davidson.
The band gets a day off to enjoy Coachella before opening for Radiohead again in Berkley next week and playing Coachella again next Friday.
