Sears shoplifter reveals weapon in waistband
Santa Barbara police are looking for a suspected shoplifter who they said revealed a gun in his waistband on Wednesday afternoon.
Around 2:30 p.m., police said Sears’ loss prevention employees noticed a couple shoplifting clothes and others items on the first floor of the store in La Cumbre Plaza.
Sears security confronted the couple, but instead of cooperating, witnesses said the man pulled up his shirt to show that he had a handgun.
The couple got away, but investigators found fingerprints on items left behind.
Sgt. Charles Katsapis said they would be looking for evidence on surveillance video.
The store stayed open during the investigation.
