Former Guadalupe Police Officer found not guilty

Moments after the jury found former Guadalupe Police Officer, Ruben Ramirez, not guilty he became very emotional. His mother, grandmother and other family members were in the court room and seemed to have breathed a sigh of relief.

The former police officer was being accused of punching his wife after they got into an argument about their divorce back in July.

Today, after three weeks of trial, the jury deliberated and found him not guilty of corporal injury, not guilty of domestic battery, not guilty of battery and not guilty of assault.

Ramirez’s attorney patted him on the back as the verdict came down. While the judge was speaking Ramirez kept his head down wiping his face and eyes several times as if he was crying.

As his family exited the court room they all hugged each other and immediately walked out and left.

Both the prosecution and the defense attorney were not available for comment immediately after.
