One dead in motrocycle accident in Ventura County

A man is dead and another was injured after a motorcycle crash in Ventura county Saturday afternoon.

According to California Highway Patrol, a 26-year-old man from Euclid, Ohio was driving a rented 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle with a passenger, a 26-year-old man from Houston, Texas.

The two men were traveling eastbound California State Route 150 west of Wiggy Ranch.

At around 2:45 p.m., the motorcycle veered off to the right side of the roadway and collided with a guardrail. Both of the men were launched from the motorcycle. The passenger collided directly with the guardrail.

The motorcycle rolled over an embankment and into nearby bushes.

Ventura County Fire and AMR arrived at the scene first and administered aid to both men.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Ventura County Medical Center via AMR and treated for his injuries.

The passenger was transported via AMR to the nearby “Berry Farm” where a Life Flight helicopter was waiting. The passenger was declared dead before being loaded onto the helicopter.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and it is unclear at this time if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. The weather during the crash was listed as clear and dry.
