October storm brings rain, thunder and lightning to central California

We have needed rain for so long, and we finally got a good amount overnight going into Friday morning. The fall storm brought rain, lightning and thunder overnight.

“I got woken up by about 3 in the morning with thunder and lightning,” said Jorge Montano of Santa Barbara. Many of us certainly heard the storm moving though.

Video sent in by NewsChannel 3’s Claire Scholl shows the lightning lighting up the sky in Santa Barbara, seconds later thunder roared across the dark sky.

“It was beautiful. I loved it. I stayed up for a while and just enjoyed it. It was really nice to hear it again,” said Montano.

The storm first hit San Luis Obispo County, before making its way to Santa Barbara and then Ventura County in the early morning hours of Monday.

While the brunt of this storm moved through overnight scattered showers continued throughout the day.
