SUV Plows Through Goleta 7-Eleven With Several People Inside

A 7-Eleven in Goleta is cleaning up a mess after an SUV crashed through their front doors.

It happened just after 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning in the 7000 block of Calle Real, that’s at the intersection of Ellwood Station Road.

It’s not clear exactly what caused the driver, to go over a curb slam into the store. The 40 year old woman told an employee the vehicle did not stop when she was parking.

There were no injuries to anyone inside the 7-Eleven.

Manager Sukhi Singh said the counter area was very busy prior to the accident. A small girl was still in the store by a food display but was just a few feet from the SUV when the vehicle came to a stop.

“The little girl was shouting and her mom was pregnant and she came into the store as well. She couldn’t come in the store because everything was blocked and I told her to calm down everything was fine. I helped the little girl over the counter and she was fine,” said Sukhi Singh who helped to comfort the child.

The front side of the building sustained major damage and support issues when the SUV struck a primary support beam, according to investigators.

Repair crews came out quickly to work on a temporary plan to keep the store open while workers cleaned up racks of food and drinks that were crushed.

A display of propane tanks, in a metal cage, was not hit – and was missed by inches.

Santa Babara County Fire, Sheriff and Urban Search and Rescue were called to the scene.
