Water Saving Mobile Car Wash Helps During Drought
A mobile car wash in Santa Barbara is cleaning up during the drought. The service takes place without any water going down the drain.
Eco Care Wash Owner Andrew Dubovoy uses a mixture in a spray bottle, and works on one section of the car at a time. It’s a spray and wipe process that takes about 40 minutes from bumper to bumper.
“The regular car wash takes a lot of water. We used to face a lot of clients who used to not wash their cars for six to eight months because they were concerned about this water drain,” said Dubovoy. He says with the water conservation he offers, more people are washing more often.
Dubovoy says it does not matter whether you have a $20,000 car or a $100,000 car, they can clean it with water conservation in mind.
One of his regular customers is Milpas Motors, which has a lot full of classic and high end cars. 45 cars are washed three times a week, without any water hitting the ground.
In addition to the service a portion of each wash is also a donation to the United Boys and Girls Club.
There are many mobile car wash companies, and even the local washes at gas stations are trying to conserve. Customers are encouraged to ask the owner about the water use and how the systems recover or reuse the water.
