Kyle Busch wins Auto Club 400
Kyle Busch took the victory as he went from third to first on the last lap of Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Auto Club 400 in Fontana, avoiding a major crash that sent Denny Hamlin to the hospital.
Cars were spinning, and debris was flying as Busch whipped his way around turn four to the finish line as thousands cheered the dramatic finish.
After the race there was an on track scuffle between Joey Logano and Tony Stewart over late race blocking. It was broken up by NASCAR officials as Busch headed to Victory Lane.
It was quite the weekend for Busch who won Saturday’s Nationwide race as well.
This afternoon, Hamlin’s team said he was going to be flown to North Carolina to see a back specialist after spending the night in a local hospital after the race.
Hamlin crashed on the final lap after banging car to car with Logano – an incident that gave Busch the lead, as Logano hit the outside wall and Hamlin going head first into the inside wall.
This is the only NASCAR race of the year in Southern California.
