Santa Barbara police search for stabbing suspect

A Santa Barbara man is recovering from multiple stab wounds and police are on the search for the suspect.

Police say the initial call went out just before 9:15 Friday morning as a robbery at the Arrellaga Gardens apartment complex on the 300 block of Arrellaga, off Bath Street.

NewChannel 3 was on scene as paramedics rolled the victim out on a gurney and into a waiting ambulance. The 34-year-old victim was taken to Cottage Hospital.

Officer Bryan Jensen confirmed the victim was stabbed multiple times but his injuries were not life threatening.

He also said detectives don’t believe the violence was linked to gangs or the killing of a Ventura man earlier this week on the east side. “There’s no indication that it’s linked to the shooting or any other prior incidents,” Jensen revealed.

Jensen would not say whether the victim knew his attacker.
