Royals Use Balance To Beat Ventura In Boys Hoops

Behind terrific scoring balance, San Marcos picked up their first Channel League win in boys high school basketball. Five Royals scored in double-figures as they won at Ventura 59-40 to move to 1-1 in league and 10-5 overall. Kevin Hempy and Jake Wheelock each scored 11 points while Elijah Johnson, Bryce Ridenour and Christian Widmer all added 10 points. The Royals outscored Ventura in every quarter. Sophomore Dustin Houck scored a game-high 14 points but the Cougars fell to 1-2 in league.
