Two Santa Barbara Surfers Win Nike U.S. Open of Surfing
It’s called the Super Bowl of surfing.The Nike U.S. Open of Surfing brought thousands of fans to the shores of Huntington Beach.Santa Barbara native Lakey Peterson (17) won the women’s competition, posting a perfect 10 in the semi finals and beating Carissa Moore in the finals.Another Santa Barbara resident, Connor Coffin (19) won the U.S. Junior Men’s Surfing Championship. Coffin scored a 8.93 in the finals.
