Fiesta Classic Car Show Set To Become Annual Benefit

The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara hosted its first Fiesta Celebration Car show and it included a BBQ and chili cook-off.

Some popular alumni returned to help.

Lonny Speer, known for painting cars in Las Vegas on the History Channel’s Counting Cars, volunteered to judge.

“Between 8 and 14 the Westside Boys Club raised me,” said Speer.

Michael Mclaughlin is an alum, too. ‘ I came here as kid just something special for me. I just love to help at my community, ” said McLaughlin, who also entered the cook-off.

The car show on East Canon Perdido had a host of judges that included meteorologist Meredith Garfalo and Santa Barbara City Council member Cathy Murillo.

The club’s executive director Diane Oplinger said the fiesta car shows gives people a chance to kick back after fiesta excitement.

She said the club intends on making it an annual event.

The money raised will help the club pay for after school programs for more than 1500 kids.
