Candy Maker Guy Robitaille Passes Away in Carpinteria
Candy maker Guy Robitaille, an honored member of the Carpinteria community, has passed away.
Robitaille was the Carpinterian of the Year in 1985.
He first came to the area in the 1960’s and gained fame for his selection of sweets inside the famous building on Linden Avenue. Robitaille’s candy store was featured in many tourist publications for the area.
The Robitaille created creamy mints were even selected for a unique treat at the White House at an inaugural event. They were later renamed and sold at the store as “Presidential” mints. Often they were also packaged as small gifts at non profit fundraisers.
Robitaille, took part in many community events, and spoke out about decisions to shape the small coastal town. His wife Carmen went on to serve on the Planning Commission and the City Council.
