High fire season begins Monday
Fire agencies are preparing for what could be a very challenging wildfire season ahead. High fire season will be officially declared Monday.
That means, at the first sign of smoke, an aggressive response will be sent to the scene.
Many homeowners in the Mission Canyon area have already had the California Conservation Corps from Camarillo, and private companies clearing brush and tall grass from the hills.
They’ve also hired a company that brings in goats to eat the scrubs on the steep hills and reduce the fire dangers.
The area was hard hit in the May 2009 Jesusita fire that burned nearly 9000 acres and destroyed more than 80 homes.
