Figtoberfest returns to Figueroa Mountain Brewing in Buellton

Figueroa Mountain Brewing celebrated its own version of Octoberfest called “Figtoberfest” on Saturday.

This year’s event included a pumpkin holding competition, stein holding competition and costume contest.

Cary Rosson set a world record for keg holding during the event. He beat the previous record by about five minutes.

“It’s all about form,” Rosson said. “It’s all about making sure you hold it straight putting it in a good place above your shoulders. The rest is just waiting it out. “

Rosson said it had been about four years since he held a keg for a long period.

It was the first Figtoberfest without the brewery’s founder Jim Dietenhofer.

A special toast was made to him during the event.
