HAZMAT crew responds to incident at Oxnard hotel

The Oxnard Fire Department responded to a report of a possible hazardous materials situation at an Oxnard hotel Friday evening.

At around 6:05 p.m., a HAZMAT crew was dispatched to a hotel at 2101 Mandalay Beach Road. The address is the location of the Embassy Suites Hotel.

The incident drew a regional HAZMAT response with Oxnard Fire, Ventura City Fire, and Ventura County Fire Departments all responding.

The exact type of hazardous material is not clear at this time but early investigation indicates that some sort of cleaning products mixed and multiple people were exposed.

At least three people were treated with two of them being transported to the hospital.

As of 6:40 p.m., crews began suiting up to go into the hotel and determine what happened. The exact location in the building is unclear.

Mandalay Road was shut down in both directions in front of the hotel and people were advised to stay out of the area. Guests at the hotel were told to shelter in place.
