Fireworks safety zone goes up on the Santa Barbara waterfront

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -   The safety zone for the 4th of July fireworks show in Santa Barbara will be on West Beach  where a large sand berm is being built.
The project is underway.    Heavy equipment is building up the sand into a circle.

The area will include an orange fence to keep the public out. Fireworks will be loaded into the launch site this weekend, and the area will have security.

On Tuesday July 4, the 20-minute fireworks show will take place at 9 p.m.
