Temperatures are warming by a few degrees Friday, bringing the region 3 to 8 degrees above normal. Coastal areas will be in the 70s and valleys in the 80s.
The region is warming slightly with offshore pressure gradients strengthening. The ridge of high pressure is slowly flattening from trough activity to the northwest.
Santa Lucia winds are lasting through the morning. A wind advisory in the San Luis Obispo County mountains and on the coast is expiring at noon.
A high surf advisory is staying in effect for the Central Coast and Ventura County coast until 9:00 pm Friday. Breaking waves will reach up to 14 feet. Be careful of sneaker waves and strong rip currents if you are planning a Friday beach day.
Fog is still affecting most of the South Coast into Ventura County, and some pockets on the Central Coast and in valleys. A dense fog advisory is in place through 9:00 am on the Ventura County coast with visibility at a quarter mile at times.
Over the weekend, temperatures will cool a few degrees each day, reaching below average. A weak trough will move into west California and we will move to southwesterly flow.
There is a slight chance of rain Monday overnight into Tuesday, and clouds will increase as a front moves south.
