Second Santa Maria Man Arrested In Connection With North Oakley Street Shooting

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (KEYT) – A 21-year-old Santa Maria man was arrested Thursday in connection with an ongoing investigation into a September shooting during an attempted robbery on North Oakley Street.

In the early morning hours of Oct. 1, 2026, Detectives and a local SWAT Team served a search warrant in the 100 block of North Western Avenue in connection with an active investigation into an attempted robbery and shooting on Sep. 18 of this year in the 300 block of North Oakley Street stated the Santa Maria Police Department.

A 32-year-old old Santa Maria man was quickly identified during the initial investigation and taken into custody and detectives located additional evidence during their continued investigation that led to the identification of a 21-year-old Santa Maria man explained the local law enforcement agency.

According to Santa Maria Police, the 21-year-old was taken into custody without incident and booked on charges of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and attempted robbery.

He remains in custody with bail set at $1 million added the local police department.
