Oxnard Man Transported In Critical Condition After Train Collided With Vehicle on Rose Avenue Sunday Evening

OXNARD, Calif. (KEYT) – A 25-year-old Oxnard man was transported in critical condition after a collision with a train on Rose Avenue in Oxnard Sunday evening.

On Sep. 6, around 8:05 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the intersection of Rose Avenue and Fifth Street for a collision between an Amtrak train and a vehicle stated a press release Monday from the Oxnard Police Department.

Arriving emergency personnel found a Mercedes-Benz had been involved in a collision with a train and the driver, later identified as a 25-year-old Oxnard man, was transported form the scene to Ventura County Medical Center in critical condition detailed the local law enforcement agency.

Traffic investigators determined that the train was leaving Oxnard southbound on the tracks that run parallel to Fifth Street at the same time that the Mercedes-Benz was heading southbound on Rose Avenue, north of the intersection with Fifth Avenue explained the Oxnard Police Department.

According to Oxnard Police, for reasons still under investigation, the Mercedes-Benz stopped on the train tracks at Fifth Street and was struck by the southbound train.
