VENTURA, Calif. - Detectives with the Ventura County Sheriff's Gang Unit arrested three documented gang members on Thursday for outstanding warrants and gun possession.
The detectives were reportedly conducting a directed enforcement in the City of Ventura at the time.
They said they spotted a vehicle with an equipment violation and pulled it over.
While contacting the driver, detectives realized the passenger in the car was a documented gang member and parolee at large with two outstanding warrants.
The detectives then conducted a search of the vehicle and found an unregistered firearm.
The sheriff's office said that, due to the parolee's past criminal history, he is prohibited from owning or possessing any firearms or ammunition.
The man was arrested for his felony warrants and for possession of a gun by a convicted felon.
He was booked at the Ventura Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
Later that same day, detectives with the gang unit conducted a probation search in a room at a Ventura hotel.
During the search, deputies reported finding methamphetamine, xanax, fentanyl and paraphernalia indicating drugs had been sold.
The detectives also found an unregistered and partially built P80 9mm firearm, an Intratec Tec 9 assault weapon, high capacity magazines and ammunition.
The detectives arrested two Ventura residents as a result of this investigation and booked them at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on various charges.
