SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) -

Big West Women's Soccer: Cal Poly 2, UCSB 0: Annika Smith scored on a header in the 9th minute and freshman Kate Nunes scored on a long distance header in the 74th minute to lift the Mustangs into a fourth place tie with the Gauchos in the Big West standings. Both goals came on corner kicks.

NCAA Men's Soccer: UC Irvine 1, Cal Poly 0: UC Irvine midfielder Isaiahs Gutierrez’s goal 26 seconds from full-time decided Wednesday’s non-conference matchup as the Cal Poly men’s soccer program sustained a 1-0 setback at Anteater Stadium.

Junior goalkeeper Ben Oetman finished with three saves in his Cal Poly debut for the Mustangs (6-5-4), who maintained the stalemate until the final minute, when defender Mathew Miranda served a ball from the center circle for midfielder James Arteaga, who headed down for Gutierrez.

Gutierrez then fired past Oetman from the center of goal for the decisive strike.
