Last day of Summer forecast, tracking heat this week

SANTA BARBARA, Calif, - It's the last day of summer, but summer-like conditions will continue through the extended forecast.

Today will feel like fall for the Central Coast, so take advantage and enjoy before the next warming trend. This is all thanks to an upper level trough that is near the Central Coast, as well as the increased onshore flow. For today, there will be reversed clearing, meaning the coasts will clear before the valleys, allowing the valley areas to have more time with the marine layer.

Temperatures today will be in the 60s and 70s for the coasts and valleys and in the 80s for the inland areas. Winds will be on the lighter side, with typical sundowner winds expected to pick up after lunch, however we have no weather alerts in place as of now.

By Wednesday, we are tracking the next mini heatwave, as a weak ridge of high pressure and offshore flow builds in. Temperatures will jump 8-10 degrees for the Central Coast from Tuesday to Wednesday and remain hot through Friday. Currently, there are no heat alerts, but that could change as we head into the work week and track the heat. Enjoy the last day of summer!
