Vanessa Rose Noblitt Convicted of Fatal 2024 DUI Crash That Killed Cyclist Saul Goldberg

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – Vanessa Rose Noblitt pled guilty to multiple felony charges after she struck two elderly bicyclists in 2024, killing one and hospitalizing the other.

Noblitt admitted to driving with a blood alcohol concentration over 0.15 percent causing great bodily injury or death, hit and run, and vehicular manslaughter as well as the aggravating factor that the victim was particularly vulnerable detailed the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office.

On the afternoon of July 23, 2024, Noblitt was driving southbound on South Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo when she drifted into the bike lane, striking 86-year-old Saul Goldberg who was riding a bicycle alongside his longtime friend, 72-year-old Martin Suits stated the local prosecutor's office.

According to the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office, Saul Goldburg was knocked down by the collision and Martin Suits likely collided with his downed friend causing him to suffer a concussion and other injuries.

Goldberg died from the injuries he sustained days later shared the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office.

Noblitt did not stop to render aid and was arrested later the same day after she crashed into a parked car in a mobile home park noted prosecutors.

It was determined that she has a blood alcohol level of 0.31 percent stated the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office.

On Aug. 14, 2026, Saul Goldberg's family attended a court proceeding where Martin Suits testified about his experience and both parties agreed with a plea offer prepared by local prosecutors for Noblitt explained the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office.

According to the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office, Noblitt will be sentenced to a maximum penalty allowed under the law of nine years and eight months in state prison on Oct. 13 of this year.
