Sinkhole reported at 4200 block of Hibiscus Court in Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, Calif. – Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to a sinkhole around 5 p.m. on Jan. 9 at the 4200 block of Hibiscus Court in Santa Maria.

Emergency responders are on the scene and evacuating necessary residences in the immediate area.

This is an evolving situation and more information will be added to this story as it arrives into the newsroom.

UPDATE: According to Santa Barbara County Fire Department, 500 homes were directly affected by the sinkhole with 20 homes evacuated and around 10 to 15 homes damaged.
