Santa Barbara Museum of Art welcomes junior high students to help celebrate 75 years

Over a hundred junior high schools students spent a portion of their day at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.

Students from La Cumbre Junior High School and Santa Barbara Junior High School did art projects on the museum’s front steps Friday.

Museum officials said this event resembled the museum’s opening day back in 1941, when the two schools were invited to be some of the first guests through the doors.

The art event featured writing stations, art making activities and a galley exhibit of some of the museum art on display.

Students also took a look at the 75 year history of the art museum.
