CARPINTERIA, Calif.- A group of Carpinteria residents gathered Tuesday evening holding sunflowers and taking part in a procession from Carpinteria Ave. down Linden Ave.

They were in unity on the International Women's Day and also used the event to show their support for the people of Ukraine who are involved in a war with Russia.

The sunflower is the official flower of Ukraine.

Many of the participants carried signs and waved at passing cars.

One sign said "Try kindness." Another said "Women making change."

The walk went to the beach and back.
