SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Electric vehicles are getting a closer look on the Central Coast as local drivers weigh costs, charging access and whether going electric makes sense for them.

The Community Environmental Council is participating in National Drive Electric Month through events aimed at connecting drivers with electric vehicle owners and available resources.

The Santa Barbara-area effort includes electric vehicle displays, opportunities for test drives and information about charging and financial incentives.

Local EV owners are also sharing their experiences behind the wheel and what they have learned about making the switch.

Organizers are using the events to answer practical questions about range, charging and the different electric vehicles now available.

The effort extends across the tri-county region as more communities add charging infrastructure and more electric models enter the market.

The events are part of the broader National Drive Electric Month campaign taking place around the country.
