Mild for now, Tuesday Sept 1st forecast

Beautiful mild weather has taken over after a very hot and humid previous week. We are looking for more nice and quiet weather to start the new month with some very interesting forecast possibilities by the Labor Day weekend. For the overnight, look for mostly clear skies and breezy winds that should stay below advisory levels even in the most wind prone areas like the Gaviota coast region. Patchy fog will develop for much of the coastal plains and push inland a bit overnight. For Tuesday, any fog lingering near the beaches should burn off fairly quickly as our warm ocean helps to lessen the marine layer from sticking around too long. Highs will be in the 60's and 70's with a few 80's in our warmest areas. Sun Downer winds could get a bit stronger and and advisory is possible for areas below passes and canyons that are prone to northerly winds.

Looking ahead, a very quiet transition to September will occur with more of the same mild day to day variations expected. It's Labor Day weekend where we will be busy watching what is expected to be our next tropical system, Marie. Our weather forecast models are very confident that this system will get pretty close to our shores and possibly even make direct landfall. If she does come right at us, surf will get very big from the south and rain would be expected toward actual Labor Day Monday. However, we have some model disagreement and it should be noted that the storm could be pushed away by high pressure that is to our east and that would mean dry conditions and even an offshore wind which would elevate fire danger across the whole region. Its will be an interesting few days as we monitor the storm closely and get ready for any eventual possibility. Stay tuned for updates.
