The air force base will change their name to Vandenberg Space Force Base.

During the ceremony, the 30th Operations Group and the 30th Mission Support Group will inactivate and transition from the operations and mission support group commanders to vice commander positions.

The soon to be Space Force will redesignate the 30th Space Wing to Space Launch Delta 30 under the Space Operations Command of the United States Space Force.

Vandenberg officials says the redesignation is critical to establishing a distinct culture and identity for the Space Force.
