One man is dead after being hit by a train in Montecito Tuesday night

An adult man was killed after he was hit by an Amtrak train Tuesday in Montecito.

MONTECITO, Calif. – A male pedestrian has died Tuesday night after being hit by a train around 6:31 p.m. near Channel Drive in Montecito.

The man was declared dead on the scene by first responders with the Montecito Fire Department and the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office.

His identity has not been revealed at this time. A bike was nearby and believed to have belonged to the man. He had some personal belongings and authorities are trying to contact the next of kin.

The train was traveling southbound at the time and the conductor stopped for the investigation.
