SLO Covid-19 testing site to move to new location in 2023

KEYT/ DAVE ALLEY

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.– The San Luis Obispo county Covid-19 testing site will move from the SLO Veterans Memorial Building to 3450 Broad Street in January 2023.

The last day for community members to test at the veterans hall will be Dec. 30 with the Broad Street location opening Jan. 4, 2023. The new location will be accessible from Broad Street or Sacramento Drive for people to test.

County Health Officer Dr. Penny Borenstein explains the move to Broad Street.

“I’m also grateful that demand for testing has decreased to a level where it is possible to meet the need in a different location and return this space to its original use. We remain ready to respond if needs change."

Testing sites provide flu and Covid-19 tests on-site. Health officials say early detection of influenza is key to treating the flu.

Those who test positive for Covid-19 may access Test to Treat services at the community sites and
take home a course of Paxlovid antiviral medication if indicated.

Insurance is not required to test at the site, but insurance will be collected for those who have it.

Appointments are plentiful and strongly recommended. Find details and make an appointment
at slopublichealth.org/testing.
