SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - San Luis Obispo’s popular Concerts in the Plaza series has been postponed until next year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event is usually held at Mission Plaza in Downtown San Luis Obispo every Friday through the summer.

Downtown SLO, the organization that produces the event, says it will instead celebrate the event’s 25th anniversary season in 2021.

“Prior to the public health emergency, we had 14 bands and a new singer/songwriter showcase confirmed for 2020. We were just about to announce the lineup - we even had our poster art ready, created by a local artist. But with the viability of live music performances in crowded settings uncertain, it just isn’t safe to proceed,” said Downtown SLO CEO Bettina Swigger.

Organizers say they are working on ways to hold Concerts in the Plaza virtually this summer.

They are encouraging potential concertgoers to still support downtown businesses affected by the pandemic.
